We are almost at our finish line – the last week of school!
Over the past few years I’ve tried to be more intentional when it comes to planning for the last week of school. Here’s a quick roundup of all of my favorite ideas.
These ideas were all used with my former third grade students, but could definitely work for surrounding grade levels too!
Engage your students in these fun activities – and still have time to work on packing up your classroom while students are lost in independent learning!
Art Day
Like many teachers, I love having themed days during the last week of school.
Art day is absolutely, hands down my favorite! It’s so much fun and full of cross-curricular activities that you and your students will love.
Read more about Art Day here.
Movie Day
This theme is popular for the last day of school, however, I’ve found that most students don’t have the ability (or desire) to sit quietly and watch movies all day.
Instead, get kids involved in research and let them make their own movies!
Check out my twist on movie day here.
Virtual Party
Are you still teaching remotely? You can still celebrate the last week of school with your students by having a virtual end of year party.
Last year I made this happen with my students by creating a “party in a bag.”
We had a virtual luau and it was perfect.

Choice Boards
Y’all know I love choice boards! (Not familiar? Read more here.)
Keeping students engaged during the last week of school is a daunting task! Why not make the work fun for your students, yet as easy for you as possible?
I’ve created choice boards for 2nd-5th grades to use during the last week of school. You’ll find printable and digital options for your students.
Tasks were intentionally created to cover all subject areas so students can reflect on their learning this year. Math, reading, writing, science, social studies, art, social skills, and career connections can all be found within this choice board!
Because of many teachers’ requests, I made this choice board tech-free since many of us have to turn in technology during the last week of school.

Are any of these ideas going to work for you and your students? Let me know – and have fun!
