Remote learning isn’t going to stop us from having a little fun during our last week of school.
The kids are already missing out on so much – field day, yearbook signings, all the themed days… ugh! Breaks my heart.
Here’s what I have planned in an attempt to make our last week of school still somewhat special and memorable:
We aren’t supposed to be giving any assignments during this last week of school; it’s to be used for students to make up any missed work.
So instead of assignments, I’m giving them some optional activities like my End of Year Newspaper Writing Activity.
Because I can’t print them for the kids, I created a digital version!
You can use it with Google Classroom or Seesaw. I’m sure there are other options out there, but those are the two I’m familiar with!
Check it out here on TPT.
Themed Days During the Last Week of School
I hate that we’ll be missing out on our typical, last-week themed days like Art Day and Movie Day.
So, I’ve decided to make our 30-minute online meetings (via Microsoft Teams) themed for the last two weeks.
We’ll have Art Day one day, which means students can share a piece of art they’ve created at home. We’ll also do a directed drawing while we are meeting live!
Game Day is always one of my favorites, so we have to try! We’ll do a few live Quizizz games and maybe do an at-home scavenger hunt. (i.e. Go find a picture of your family.) That should be fun!
Another day will be Memory Day, during which students will have the opportunity to share their favorites memories from the year. They’re encouraged to bring artifacts if they have them or create short videos for us to watch. This is when they’ll be able to share their end of year news if they chose to complete it.
During our last live meeting, we’ll celebrate by having a virtual luau. Read all about it in another blog post right here.
No matter how you choose to end your year – be content in knowing that you did the best you could. We didn’t expect it to end like this, and anything that you are doing for your students is ENOUGH. Be kind to yourself and extend yourself grace!
