My students want me to be a full-time songwriter now that I’ve introduced them to this plane shapes song. This one was a much bigger hit than the last one we sang!
Click here to download a PDF of the lyrics.
Find the karaoke music on YouTube here.
See my class singing the song here.
WARNING: This song can and will get stuck in your head – forever and ever! Never will I ever sing “Cheerleader” correctly again – ha! The kids love it, though, which makes math class fun and the content a little more engaging, so also more memorable.
In addition to singing the plane shapes song, we’ve been practicing our 2D shape skills with these task cards, which include shape identification, angles, and symmetry.
We also made these fun plane shape robots:
After a week full of learning about 2D shapes, students got to wear a bracelet to help them show what they know. The bracelet has a QR code on it that says “Scan for a surprise!” The QR code leads to this Have Fun Teaching video (via SafeShare). Of course, they loved it!
Enjoy!

Ok, you are adorable singing that song. Perfect timing as I'm starting geometry next week. I am going to step
W A Y out of my comfort zone and try this! Thank you! 🙂
